You aren’t as fit as you used to be

Here at JT Ethos, one of our main specialties is health overhauls for men and women who dare to accept that they’ve kind of reached that middle phase of their life. Nobody likes the word “middle-aged”, but we all kind of know when we get there.
Who wants to be fitter at 50 than they were at 40? Who wants to be fit at 50 to achieve a certain goal? Who wants to be fit at 50 to look great at that party that they’re going to throw themselves? But perhaps being fit at 50 doesn’t actually speak to enough people because it doesn’t have to be the age 50.

The idea is that at a certain point in your life you kind of realize you’re not the person you want to be. Your waistband might be getting bigger. You might find yourself groaning when you get out of chair, or when you go to sit down. You might feel stiff every single day of the week.

You almost certainly want to be fitter, want to be leaner, have more energy, feel better when you get out of bed, have a bit of a spring in your step. You’ve probably got one, two, or more little nagging aches and pains that just don’t seem to go away. You might get a couple of days away from them, but then they always keep coming back.

Perhaps the scariest thing is, if you’re really honest, every now and then you find yourself looking a little bit more like your mother and father than you really care for.
Times have changed

So, what we do at JT Ethos is we help you address that because in your past, in your 20’s, in your early 30’s, if you decided you need a health kick, it was all fairly easy. You could throw yourself at the gym for three, four, six weeks, and you know that you’d start to feel fitter, and you’d lose that extra bit of weight, and you’d be ready to go on holiday, and you’d be feeling good about how you looked.
In your 20’s you could cut out all the bad food. You could stop drinking for a month. You could tighten things up, and the weight would fall off, and you’d look great, and it would all be happy. But, at this stage in your life if you look at your diary the chances are you haven’t got a chance in life to drink for a month because you’ve got too many things going on.

In your 20’s if you’ve got an ache and pain it was two or three sessions with the physiotherapist, maybe a couple of massages, do a bit of extra yoga classes, and everything would start to feel great again, but in your mid 30’s, in your 40’s, and 50’s, and onwards it doesn’t quite work that way.

We all know as we get older we got to be smarter than the youth, okay. That’s the gift that we have once you start to get a bit of maturity behind you. At JT Ethos, we want to use that smartness. We want to use your knowledge, and your brains to help you get the fitness that you’re really after.

Right now if you tried your old way of getting yourself fitter, leaner, getting more energy back in, one of a few things would happen.

You’d look at it and say, I haven’t got time to be going to the gym four, five times a week for an hour, hour and a half at a time. I’ve got far too many things to be going on with. I’ve got the kids, the family, work. I just couldn’t do it, and if you did manage to do it the chances are within two or three weeks your body would start screaming at you, and you’d just be in too much pain to carry on, or you’d find you just can’t stick to it.

The motivation’s not there anymore, and equally you’d know in the back of your mind it’s a short-term thing. In another six weeks you’re going to be back at square one, and quite frankly you’re too smart to realize that, that’s a good idea. Also, deep down you know there is a better way.Yoga Positions

How we can help

What we can do is bring our knowledge, and our expertise together with your understanding of you, your life, how you work, and what motivates you to put together a programme that helps you achieve that on a long-term basis.

Make a few really important small changes, maybe one or two really big ones, but ones that matter, and that have a big impact on what you’re trying to achieve. Don’t mess about doing lots of little things that just take boat loads of willpower, but only give you short-term results.

Make some real changes, some proper changes that are going to last, and give you massive results, and massive reward for the effort that you put in because when you do that and you make a change that makes a difference you get the results today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, and for the rest of your life. When you build in a few of those, one on top of the other, that’s how you end up super fit at 50.
